Compassion, Freedom & Diversity
Sapere Aude: PNVD Now!
Foreword
Our Great Dissatisfaction
It is diversity that makes life interesting. Everyone should as much as possible get the chance to choose his or her own ideals. Unfortunately nowadays a lot of people die as a copy of something, although having been born as a unique personality. This is because many people - and politicians as well - trim their sails according to the wind and only few dare think for themselves. One doesnt afford one and other the opportunity to do so, because one rashly accepts existing opinions and considers them to be the only valid ones. It is namely easy and safe not to think independently and not to have a view of ones own. When appears that a generally accepted opinion wasnt correct after all because things are getting out of hand, often a revolution will occur. During a revolution there is little attention for more differentiated approaches, and this has the danger that the outdated opinion is being replaced by some other dominant opinion, that is accepted as factual. In this way diversity is not given a chance.
Our Solution
The PNVD favours diversity and makes an active effort to achieve this. Individual differences deserve respect, because they add an element of surprise to life. Diversity gets a chance when everyone gets as much as possible the opportunity to make his own decisions, as long as compassion isn´t left out of sight. A greater freedom doesn´t have to be at the expense of a social society, if the gap between the politicians and citizens is made as small as possible. Through decentralization people will get more personally in contact with one and other. So, more power to the municipalities and less to Europe, as is now the case. Small enterprises should get more chances of survival, so not only multinationals will remain. By promoting freedom and compassion, from the very start people with dissentient views will be heard also. In this way an evolution will take place and nuance will be made possible. Because people get in touch with different opinions, they are stimulated to think independently. That´s why our device is Sapere Aude (-Horatius), meaning something like: dare to think for yourself.
Thinking Critically
We hope to turn all Dutch citizens into critical freethinkers, who attach importance to reason and the power of argument. It is not enough when public authorities request people to think for themselves. People will also have to be given a larger amount of freedom, to ensure they are enabled to make choices. People should be enabled to decide whether they want to discriminate, smoke, shoot, integrate, apply for a job, etcetera. A government that takes away liberty in order to protect the people, doesnt actually help them but hampers their development.
One Or More Seats
The PNVD would be glad already with one seat. Then we could ask questions to the Chamber, amongst others, about subject matters that are near to our hearts.
About Us
We are honest, idealistic, and we dont mince our words. We attach great value to, and fight for, freedom of expression for one and all. There should always be the possibility for a discussion. Taboos and dogmas dont add anything, they only increase fear and intolerance.
Our Spearheads
Most political parties are too populistic. It sometimes seems as if politicians are only after attracting large amounts of voters, as a goal and not as a means. They allow the media to decide when they are allowed to express controversial points of view. This has as a consequence that politicians are keeping as many options open as possible which causes the general policy to be dominated by the media. This has to change. Thats why the PNVD proclaims its ideals loud and proud. Here are our twenty spearheads:
1. Ministers are executors, the policies are being determined by the Second Chamber.
(vide Chapter 1: The Government)
2. Municipalities will become more autonomous.
(vide Chapter 2: Municipalities)
3. Political decisions always independent from Europe, possible cooperation only later.
(vide Chapter 3: Europe and World Politics)
4. One should attempt to form a European army.
(vide Chapter 4: Army Matters)
5. Legal status for soft and hard drugs.
(vide Chapter 5: Stimulants)
6. Discrimination will be allowed, except by the government.
(vide Chapter 6: Judicature)
7. Each neighbourhood and village will get two Grumpy Officers who are actually living there.
(vide Chapter 7: The Police)
8. Every detainee will receive some sort of coaching or treatment.
(vide Chapter 8: Legal Punishments)
9. Children may start to entertain sexual contacts from the age of twelve.
(vide Chapter 9: Sexuality & Intimacy)
10. Primary Schools may never be based on a religion.
(vide Chapter 10: Education)
11. Teachers will get a high degree of freedom to choose teaching materials and methods.
(vide Chapter 11: Contents of Education)
12. No integration policy.
(vide Chapter 12: Refugees & Asylum Seekers)
13. A public vote should be cast on the public broadcasting organizations.
(vide Chapter 13: Media)
14. The Dutch Railways will return to be a state-owned enterprise and travelling by train will be free.
(vide Chapter 14: Traffic & Transportation)
