    Your Freedom
    From: Amnesty International UK [sct@webmail.amnesty.org.uk]

    Dear Supporter,

We've got our best chance in years to get rid of Control Orders, as the UK coalition government is about to start a new review of counter-terrorism powers.

Control Orders give the government sweeping powers to restrict the liberty of terrorism suspects - using a mixture of curfews, electronic tagging, reporting requirements, and controls on movement, communications and association. All on the basis of secret intelligence that they can't see or challenge.

    Make your voice heard.

Later this week, I’m meeting the Home Office to outline Amnesty’s human rights concerns about current measures – particularly Control Orders. I want to grab their attention by starting that meeting with evidence that people in the UK don't want a system that disregards the fundamental right to a fair trial.

The government has set up a new website, Your Freedom, to capture public opinions on laws that conflict with their freedoms. We’ve used it to register a proposal to abolish Control Orders. Now, we need you to show your support by giving it a five-star rating.

Step 1 - register at Your Freedom http://yourfreedom.hmg.gov.uk/join_form

Step 2 - visit our proposal and give it a five star rating. Also add a comment if you wish.

If just a few thousand of you join with us, when I sit down with the Home Office, I can tell them that our proposal is the most popular on their own consultation website .

The impact on the individuals subject to Control Orders and their families and friends can be devastating – destroying livelihoods and damaging relationships. Please help us banish them to history. Act today.

    Thank you.

    Yours sincerely,

    Tara Lyle
    Counter-terrorism Policy Adviser

Hai dimenticato questa parte che secondo me è anche più significativa e mostra come i governi "democratici" come gli UK non abbiano il minimo rispetto per le persone:

      The impact of Control Orders:

The wife of one man who was subjected to a Control Order told Amnesty about these restrictions and their impact on the family:

'I tried to remain hopeful many times. But there is no hope. There is no court hearing for my husband, so that he can profess his innocence. He has been charged of no crime, he has not been interviewed or interrogated.’

'He had to wear an electronic tag around his ankle. He had to report by telephone… several times a day (including the middle of the night). Our children were not allowed to use the internet or have a computer. Their education has suffered… My husband was re-arrested for alleged breaches of his control order, once for having a Nintendo Wii, a gift for our children from his solicitor.'

'We were not allowed visitors unless they had been cleared by the Home Office having to go through a rigorous vetting procedure. Many of them would not even call for fear of being harassed by the police or worse. We as a family are dead! We are sick to death with the police and the government’s torture of our family.'
